Ollie Wilkinson is back in the hunt for a Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup podium at Misano this weekend, 3-4 August, alongside fellow McLaren Factory Driver Ben Barnicoat in the McLaren 720S GT3.
The JOTA team drivers resume their Sprint Cup duties after the squad had to miss the last round at Zandvoort, due to Covid protocols. Prior to that, Wilkinson and Barnicoat came one place away from their first visit to the podium with fourth in race two at Magny-Cours, France, in May.
Since then, the full JOTA line-up of Wilkinson, Barnicoat and Rob Bell also delivered an impressive Circuit Paul Ricard 1000km debut performance which netted 14th in the Pro class, 16th of the staggering 47-car field. The trio also completed the official test ahead of the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa last week.
Before Ollie can pin any hopes on a top-three finish, however, the 25-year-old will need to get on terms with the 4.3km Misano circuit for the first time in Friday practice and Pre-Qualifying. Saturday starts with Qualifying proper at 09:40 ahead of the first one-hour race at 15:00. The grid for race two on Sunday will be determined by Qualifying at 09:00, followed by the final Sprint Cup encounter of the weekend at 14:00 (all times CEST).
All the action on both Saturday and Sunday will be aired live through both the series website and YouTube channel. The provisional schedule can be found below and don’t forget to follow Ollie’s social channels for the latest track-side news.
